The Board
The Board consists of 7 members appointed for 3 year terms by the Governor. 6 members are nominated by the Minister for Primary Industries, and one is nominated by the Australian Veterinary Association (SA Branch). Of the 6 ministerial nominations, 1, the Presiding Officer, is a legal practitioner; 3 are veterinary surgeons - one of whom must have experience in working with large animals; and 2 are laypersons one of whom must have a specific interest in animals.
The role of the Board
The role of the Board is to regulate the veterinary profession, and ensure high standards of professional service are provided to the public and SA community.

Copies of the Registers are available to purchase (printed copy or electronic version), or for inspection. You should contact the Office of the Registrar to discuss your requirements.
Listings
The Board also is required to keep lists of
- Veterinary Services Providers (non-vets providing veterinary services through a registered veterinary surgeon - for example corporate entities etc)
- Prescribed Business Interests of veterinary surgeons (a list of veterinary surgeons with a business interest in particular veterinary products or services)
- Accredited Veterinary Hospitals
