RENEWAL OF 2021 REGISTRATION AND
LODGEMENT OF 2020 ANNUAL RETURN
The Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia (VSBSA) has written to all veterinary surgeons regarding the online renewal of registration and lodgement of annual return process.
Veterinary surgeons have been provided with a user name and password for the purpose of renewing their registration for the 2021 calendar year and lodging their annual return for the 2020 calendar year online.
Veterinary surgeons must complete the online process personally. Completion of an annual return is a personal obligation of a veterinary surgeon under the Veterinary Practice Act 2003 and this task should not be delegated to another person. Each veterinary surgeon must declare that they have personally completed the annual return prior to lodgement.
It is an offence pursuant to section 68 of the Veterinary Practice Act 2003 for a person to provide information in an annual return that is false and misleading. Therefore, please take care when answering all questions and have details of your 2020 continuing professional development (CPD) activity available to you when completing the online lodgement process. You will be asked to provide a full description of your completed CPD activity (including the name of the provider (if any) and the name of the presentation/publication). You will also be asked to state the date on which you completed each item of CPD activity and state the number of CPD units attributable to that activity. If you are unsure of the number of units attributable to your CPD activity, visit the CPD page for the current CPD Guidelines. Please note that you are required to enter full details of your CPD online. At the end of the online process, you will be prompted to declare that all information in your annual return including CPD details is true and correct. If you do not enter your CPD details online as part of the annual return process, you may be required to provide a statutory declaration and this may result in delays in processing your annual return.
The 2021 annual practice fee for general registration has been fixed under the Veterinary Practice Act 2003 in the sum of $697. The fee must be paid by no later than 31 December 2020.
Please note that a late fee of $229 has been fixed under the Veterinary Practice Act 2003 to apply to all renewals of registration paid after 31 December 2020. To avoid incurring this late fee, you must renew your registration by completing the online process prior to expiry of the 31 December 2020 deadline.
If you do not wish to renew your registration for the 2020 calendar year, you must still lodge an annual return for the 2020 calendar year. Please do so by clicking 'Lodge' at the bottom of this web page. You will be prompted to answer questions relating to the 2020 calendar year. Please select the option 'I do not wish to renew registration as a veterinary surgeon for the year ending 31 December 2021'.
If you have not received a letter from the VSBSA with log in details by Tuesday 15 December 2020, please notify the office by email at [email protected] and confirm your current postal address. Please note that veterinary surgeons are required by section 31 of the Veterinary Practice Act 2003 to notify the Board in writing of a change of name, personal address or business address within 3 months of the change.
If you experience technical difficulty with the online system, please email the office at [email protected] to request assistance as soon as possible.
